Transparency and good governance: OFNAC meets the actors of Mbacké
Increase awareness of the laws and rules that govern transparency and good governance in order to strengthen the prevention of corruption. This was the objective of the workshop organized on October 21, 2026, by the National Anti-Corruption Office (OFNAC) for stakeholders in Mbacké, dedicated to the popularization of the texts in force. An initiative aimed at facilitating the understanding of these provisions and encouraging their appropriation by the stakeholders concerned.
The texts relating to the creation of OFNAC, the declaration of assets, the law on whistleblowers as well as the right of access to information were at the heart of the discussions. This meeting brought together administrative authorities, department heads, local elected officials and members of civil society from the Mbacké department. It was chaired by the prefect of Mbacké, Khadim Hann.
According to Babacar Niang, member of the OFNAC Assembly, the participants discussed in particular the various reforms taking place in 2025. “A legislative text is an ideal and everything depends on its application, its implementation,” he declared. He explained that the OFNAC delegation went to Mbacké to help the various stakeholders better understand the new texts intended to strengthen transparency and good governance.
To fight against corruption, OFNAC focuses in particular on prevention, he recalled, thus underlining the importance of this workshop to popularize the new texts. According to him, these have made it possible to refocus the field of intervention of the institution, in particular by removing fraud from its remit, while giving it new powers in terms of special investigations and seizures, particularly in the context of uncompleted asset declarations and the fight against illicit enrichment.
At the end of the workshop, the prefect of Mbacké, Khadim Hann, welcomed this exercise which, according to him, made it possible to review the innovations contained in these texts, as well as the reforms undertaken in 2025, in order to allow the actors present to better understand their scope.
Believing that the fight against corruption is everyone’s business, he invited all participants to combat practices likely to be assimilated to acts of corruption in their various services.
