Tivaouane Peulh–Niague: a two billion FCFA shopping center inaugurated
With a total cost of around two billion FCfa, the new “Tawfex” shopping center in Tivaouane Peulh–Niague was officially received yesterday, Tuesday October 20. This modern shopping complex marks a crucial step in improving the working conditions of traders.
The national coordinator of the Market Modernization and Management Program (Promogem), Rougui Aladji Sow, yesterday, Tuesday, October 20, received the “Tawfex” shopping center, located in Tivaouane Peulh–Niague.
Built on 9,550 m², the infrastructure offers, on two levels, new generation commercial spaces. It is made up of 275 stores, 40 toilets, a gym, a commercial space for the sale of fruits and vegetables.

Estimated at nearly two billion FCfa, the center also has modern amenities, including an administrative block, a microfinance space and a cold room. The completion of this project marks a new stage for the development of the local economy.
According to Ms. Sow, “this infrastructure will improve the working conditions of traders, boost local commerce and contribute favorably to the well-being of local populations.” Its erection is therefore a concrete response to the modernization of market infrastructures. However, the national coordinator of Promogem insisted on the need to maintain it.
“With this modern shopping center, we are translating the state’s vision. Promogem’s current challenge is not simply to build walls and buildings. It is about building a real management system which will guarantee effective management, with greater security and good hygiene,” she stressed.
The mayor of Tivaouane Peulh–Niague, Momar Sokhna Diop, for his part, magnified the work of Promogem which, according to him, makes it possible to radically transform commercial spaces. In addition to ensuring the maintenance of this structure, the councilor expressed the municipality’s desire to develop a good monitoring policy in order to guarantee the sustainability of the building.
“Today we have a magnificent shopping center and it is our responsibility to maintain it in perfect condition for the well-being of the people. The management model chosen by Promogem for this infrastructure fully suits us and, together, we will meet these challenges,” said the mayor.
