Floods: three ministers mobilized alongside the populations
After the heavy rains which caused significant flooding in Dakar, its suburbs and in several localities in the country, three ministers will go to the field this Monday afternoon to assess the situation and provide responses to the affected populations.
From 1 p.m., the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé, the Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation, Cheikh Tidiane Gaye, as well as the Minister of Family, Social Action and Solidarity, Marie Angélique Mame Selbé Diouf, will visit several affected areas, notably the Catchment Zone. They will meet the affected populations and assess the extent of the damage. For two days, several neighborhoods in Dakar and its region, as well as other localities in Senegal, have been facing significant flooding. In a communication published during the night from Sunday to Monday, the Ministry of the Interior notably reported losses of human lives.
Emergency
Faced with the emergency, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting this Monday morning devoted to the situation. This meeting made it possible to decide on measures intended to strengthen assistance to the affected populations and to deal with the consequences of the heavy rains. The trip of the three ministers is part of this context and responds to the instructions of the authorities. It must make it possible to collect the concerns of the population, assess the damage and coordinate the interventions of the various State services.
At the end of the visit, a press briefing is planned to present the main measures taken by the government in favor of the affected populations.
