Football: Senegal beats Comoros 1-0 in friendly match
The Senegal national football team won against the Comoros (1-0), Sunday at the Vélodrome stadium in Marseille, in an international friendly match. The Lions provided the essential thanks to a goal from Iliman Ndiaye scored in the first minutes of the match.
Patrick Vieira’s men quickly took control of operations. Iliman Ndiaye opened the scoring in the 5th minute, on an action initiated by Ibrahim Mbaye, allowing Senegal to realize its good start.
After this opening score, the Lions maintained their advantage until the break. Coach Patrick Vieira made several changes to his starting lineup, notably offering playing time to players who were less in demand during the first two matches of the international window. Kalidou Koulibaly, captain, was notably established in central defense alongside Mamadou Sarr.
In the second half, Senegal continued to control the match without managing to score a second goal. The Comorians failed to come back and the Lions ultimately maintained their advantage until the final whistle.
This victory allows Senegal to conclude its international window on a positive note, after a draw against Mozambique (1-1) and a victory against Ethiopia (1-0) in the CAN 2027 qualifiers.
For Patrick Vieira, this meeting also made it possible to evaluate several players and to continue the adjustments of his team in view of the next international events.
