Realization of the Senegal 2050 Agenda: President BD Faye wants precise, quantified, practicable opinions from youth
The Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, invites young people, through the Senegal Youth Advisory Council, to provide precise, quantified, practicable opinions which will feed the Senegal 2050 Agenda. This is the call launched Tuesday, on the occasion of the installation ceremony of the members of this council.
The members of the Senegal Youth Advisory Council were officially installed this Tuesday, September 29, 2026 in the presence of the Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. They represent the youth of different localities of the country.
“You are now the interlocutor of the State, its ministries and its partners on everything that affects young people. I’m not asking you to approve of me. A President always receives more approval than he deserves. I ask you to tell me what the reports don’t say. Most of the people you talk about didn’t vote for any of you,” he said.
However, underlines President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, many are unaware that this Council exists. However, these advisors carry their voice, even more than that of their voters.
“To deserve these votes, I only have one piece of advice. Work. Debate, heatedly if necessary, then agree on the essentials. Provide us with precise, quantified, practicable opinions that feed into the Senegal 2050 Agenda. And I commit to this before you. Your opinions will be read and I will receive you whenever the situation requires it,” he advocated.
On this, the Head of State announced that the government, under the authority of the Prime Minister, will open its doors to them, on guidance, on professional training, on digital skills, on everything that decides the future of a young person. And he invites local authorities, the private sector, civil society and their partners to do the same.
“Your generation has no more faults than any other. It has its own temptations, and I want to name them, because we defend ourselves better from what we have faced. The first temptation is to believe that nothing depends on you. Let everything be decided elsewhere, higher up, further away, and all that remains is to wait. This Council exists to prove otherwise. What concerns you will now be decided with you,” he said.

The second temptation is for the head of state to let the machine think for them. Because she will offer them this facility with great politeness. “Use her as a tool. A mind that no longer works dies like an arm that is no longer raised,” recommended President Faye.
The third considers Bassirou Diomaye Faye, is the fake. This is the screen where, according to him, we destroy in ten seconds a reputation built over thirty years, where the insult takes the place of an argument, where we no longer ask if something is true but only if it hurts.
“You are better than that. The debate, yes. The contradiction, always. But lies and insults, never. The last is imitation. Wanting other people’s dreams, their models, their accents, even the way they look at us. The initiates did not leave the box with advice only. They came out with a load. And here is yours,” he noted.
