Grand Yoff: two individuals arrested with equipment intended for motorcycle theft

Two individuals were arrested on September 22, 2026, by the Grand Yoff district police station, for alleged theft of a motorcycle, criminal conspiracy and possession of hashish. Equipment presented as intended for the theft of two-wheelers was seized.

A police patrol arrested two individuals on September 22, 2026, near the two lanes of Liberté 6. According to information communicated by the police, the officers were carrying out a security mission when they saw three individuals traveling on two motorcycles, one of which seemed to have broken down.

Asked to stop for a check, the suspects refused to comply and fled. A chase then began. The three individuals successively fell from their machines, allowing the police to arrest them.

The body and baggage search revealed a ball of hashish, a pair of shears and a tear gas pump. The persons concerned were taken to the police station for the purposes of the investigation.

Questioned about the circumstances of their presence and their attempt to escape, the defendants admitted to having stolen the broken down motorcycle, without an ignition key, behind the Gendarmerie Brigade of the Fair. They allegedly forced the handlebars before heading towards Liberté 6.

According to their confessions reported by the police, the shears were used to cut the locks of the coveted two-wheelers, while the tear gas pump was intended to neutralize any resistance from their victims.

The two individuals were placed in police custody for criminal conspiracy, gang theft committed at night with the use of a vehicle and tools, as well as possession of hashish. The two motorcycles, the gas pump and the shears were seized and placed under seal. Investigations continue.
