Senegalese Professional Football League: The Association of Independent Sports Photographers of Senegal suspends its coverage

The Association of Independent Sports Photographers of Senegal (APSIS) announced, Sunday September 13, 2026, through a press release published following the new accreditation terms of the Senegalese Professional Football League (LSFP), the suspension until further notice of the photographic coverage of its competitions by its independent members not attached to media houses.

This decision follows the new accreditation conditions put in place by the LSFP. According to APSIS, these no longer allow its members concerned to obtain the necessary accreditations to access League meetings. The association therefore asks all of its members to “suspend all photographic coverage of competitions and events covered by the LSFP”. A decision which marks, in fact, the end of the collaboration between the two parties in the conditions which prevailed during the past season.

480 matches covered in one season

APSIS highlights the work carried out by its members during the last season to measure the impact of their activity. More than 60 photographers from the association covered 480 Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 matches, for a total of more than 100,000 photographs taken. Their production also generated more than six million views on Instagram and 800,000 likes. For the association, these figures illustrate the contribution of independent photographers to the visibility of Senegalese professional football. It thus intends to defend their “professionalization” and their “right place in the sporting ecosystem”.

APSIS specifies, however, that its decision does not call into question its commitment to the development of Senegalese football. She says she is open to new collaborations with Leagues, Federations, institutions and sports structures wishing to work with independent photographers because, for them, “The image of Senegalese sport deserves to be promoted. Those who produce it also deserve to be considered. »
