Alleged misappropriation of foodstuffs from SIMAR SA: a dismantled network, damage of more than 363 million FCFA

An investigation was opened by the Dakar Research Brigade after the filing of a complaint by the company SIMAR SA, which estimates its damage at “more than three hundred and sixty-three (363) million CFA francs”, for alleged acts of theft, breach of trust and misappropriation of foodstuffs.

According to the press release published on September 7, 2026, the case began with the interception, in Touba Ndamatou, of a truck transporting twenty-five tonnes of wheat, “without exit, loading or delivery authorization issued by the management of SIMAR SA”. The driver presented a delivery note dated October 21, 2025, the authenticity of which remained to be established.

The first checks made it possible to trace the company’s warehouses, notably that of Cambérène, where the goods came from. The investigators then looked at the different actors involved in the management and control of goods issues. According to the results of the hearings, there exists “a system of subtraction and resale of foodstuffs (corn, rice and wheat) in the local market”.

Several suspects were taken into custody. Two of them, who left Senegal after the events, were arrested in Guinea-Bissau.
