Prevention of organized crime: ACCA mobilizes stakeholders in the Central zone

In Kaolack, actors in the Central zone are now better equipped to deal with organized crime. A three-day workshop devoted to human rights and the fight against this scourge was organized by the NGO Alliance against Crime in Africa (ACCA), in collaboration with German cooperation (GIZ).

The meeting, which brought together participants from Kaolack, Fatick, Kaffrine and Diourbel, also marks the launch of the 2026-2027 national awareness campaign. Placed under the theme “Secure borders, stable economy, protected youth”, the session made it possible to address the main forms of organized crime, in particular corruption, money laundering, drug trafficking, migrant smuggling and that of counterfeit medicines. “The fight against organized crime is only possible in a state of law. This is the very foundation of this struggle,” declared ACCA President Ngouda Fall Kane.

He called for increased involvement of young people and women in prevention and awareness-raising. Technical advisor at GIZ, Touradou Sow insisted on the need to strengthen the capacities of civil society in order to better fight against illicit financial flows.

The municipality of Kaolack, represented by deputy mayor Ndèye Lobé Lam, reaffirmed its availability to support prevention initiatives against organized crime.
