Aston Villa formalizes the arrival of Ibrahim Mbaye, PSG pockets €55 million

Aston Villa formalized the signing of Ibrahim Mbaye on Tuesday. The 18-year-old Senegalese striker, trained at PSG after his stint with FC Versailles 78 in 2018, is leaving the Parisian club for around 55 million euros, according to consistent information from The Athletic. He has made a long-term commitment to the Birmingham club, after passing his medical on Saturday.

Long announced by Liverpool, with whom he had reached a five-year contractual agreement, Mbaye finally joined Unai Emery’s club, the good relationship between presidents Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Nassef Sawiris having facilitated negotiations between the two clubs.

Author of his professional debut in August 2024, at just 16 years old, the winger leaves PSG after 42 matches, four goals and four assists, but above all a double winner of the Champions League. A 15-time Senegalese international, he also played in the last World Cup with the Lions, even scoring a goal against the France team.

With this sale, PSG continues a record summer on the transfer market, between arrivals and departures, bringing to nearly 380 million euros the revenue generated by the Parisian club since the opening of the summer transfer window.
