4,471 licenses, 89 days and 70.8 million FCfa in organizational fees September 21, 2026

The Senegalese Wrestling Federation (FSL) presented, on September 12, 2026 at the National Arena, the results of its first season in its new institutional configuration. The activity report takes stock of the 2025-2026 season, marked by the transition from the Cng to the FSL, with 4,471 licenses issued, 89 days of wrestling with strikes and 70.8 million FCfa in organizational rights. He also reviews the actions taken, the difficulties encountered and the priorities for the next season.

After a first year of existence, the new Senegalese Wrestling Federation was confronted with new requirements in terms of governance, transparency, professionalization and development of the discipline. Olympic wrestling, beach wrestling, non-strike wrestling and striking wrestling constituted the main areas of activity, with particular emphasis on training, regional development and preparation for the “Dakar 2026” YOG. The FSL recorded 4,471 licenses during the season: 3,179 in wrestling with striking, 1,239 in wrestling without striking and 53 for Olympic wrestling and beach wrestling. These figures confirm the weight of traditional wrestling and underline the delay of Olympic disciplines, the development of which requires broader detection, reinforced training and better support for young people.

In Thiès and Ziguinchor, the FSL has increased training and courses to strengthen the technical level and prepare the next generation. In Dakar, the sessions organized at the National Arena were, however, suspended in January 2026 for administrative reasons, affecting the regularity of preparation.

The relaunch of Olympic wrestling is therefore among the priorities for the next season, with the ambition of strengthening training, broadening detection and offering athletes better preparation conditions.
