Women’s World Cup U17 2024: Kenya Fall of entry against England
The Kenya signed its first defeat at the U17 2024 women’s World Cup after its setback against England (0-2) on Thursday, on the occasion of the first day of Pool C.
As of kick -off, the Kenyans knew how to stand up to the English, showing a good organization on the ground. However, the first period took a decisive turning point in the 29th minute: an Omotara Junaid ball hit Halima’s hand Imbachi in the surface, led to a penalty for England. Lola Brown did not let this opportunity pass and opened the scoring for her team.
Despite this setback, Kenya continued to fight. Led by Marion Serenge and Valerie Nekesa, the Kenyans have multiplied the offensive incursions, putting English defense to the test. Their tenacity and combativeness were remarkable, testifying to a promising potential for the rest of the tournament.
In the last minutes of the match, England sealed its victory with a second goal scored by Lauryn Thompson in the 87th minute. However, even if the final score is against them, the Kenyans have left great promises for the future.
