His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu has recently commissioned the first ever government hospital in Mulobezi district. The hospital, equipped with modern state of the art diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, which include, a digital X-ray machine, ultrasound, dental and laboratory equipment, has been built at a total cost of K13 million.
And Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya has said the President’s crusade for health for all is posting early dividends as Western province gets 61 health posts, 5 district hospitals, 5 mini hospitals, two nursing schools, a medical stores hub and seven hundred health workers!
“We will rebuild our health systems anchored on primary health care. We will expand infrastructure, address human resources for health, strengthen supply chain for medicines and innovate to create a sound financing mechanism for health services for all. We remain resolute in our quest for universal health coverage,” reiterated the Health Minister.
Can someone remind Mr. Hichilema’s special advisor, Mr. William Tekele Banda, that this is what the people of Western Province need not to put to test the effectiveness of the latest health posts the PF government has brought to the province?
As I post this article, UPND cadres, in the presence of their leader, are blocking roads in Sesheke town centre, attacking marketeers, destroying their goods in the process. They have been incensed by some marketeers and taxi drivers who hailed at passing PF vehicles “Mu Amuhezwi Ba PF Mu Amuhezwi Mwamukola Amuhezwi!”
What I can’t understand is why the UPND leadership cannot emulate the peaceful nature in which the PF leadership has conducted itself in the area. What next does the UPND want to destroy to make its point clear that it is not in politics to develop Zambia but just to take Mr. Hichilema to State House, and at any cost?
