Hon Brian Mushimba is the Minister of Transport and communications and area Member of Parliament for Kankoyo constituency in Mufulira .
Hon Brian Mushimba was born and raised in kankoyo constituency and happens to be the 9th born of a family of 18. He did his primary Education at Makole primary school in kankoyo and then proceeded to do his secondary school from Mpelembe which was a ZCCM – Mine school.
After having completed his grade 12 successfully at Mpelembe Secondary School, he got admission at the University of Zambia under the School of Natural Sciences .
He also got a scholarship through ZCCM to stay at Mpelembe to obtain the Form 6 (lower and upper) qualification. He then later went to study engineering abroad on the ZCCM/Zambian government scholarship.
By the time he was graduating with his degree from University between 1998 and 1999, the Mines were being privatised so the requirement for all students who were educated to come back and work for the mines Immediately was taken away.
They were henceforth advised to aquire much exposure and experience so that they could be of more value to there country when they come back.
Whilst in the United States, he worked for Siemens as an Electrical engineer with focus on Power Plants and stations as a commissioning engineer for almost 7 years. He started as a junior electrical engineer then through promotions become a senior electrical engineer to commissioning engineer to Lead commissioning engineer and then project Manager.
In the late 2006, he resigned from Siemens because he wanted to come back to Zambia after resigning he joined Chilanga cement because Lafarge had operations in the US.After joining them he was shipped to Zambia to work at Chilanga cement as the engineering Manager were he worked until 2012 ,after rendering in his resignation letter.
After resigning from Chilanga Cement, he joined Eskom in South Africa “the Zesco of SA ” as a Technical Director in charge of the expansion plan.This followed after South Africa starting experiencing alot of loadshedding.
Hon Brian Mushimba worked as a Technical Director for a year and then got promoted and sent to an Eskom Subsidiary in Uganda as in the Capacity of CEO were he worked until 2016 when he came back to contest the Kankoyo constituency seat on the PF ticket which he scooped and got appointed as Minister of Transport and communications by His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
