THE Ukusefya Pa Ng’wena ceremony of the Bemba helps to promote unity among the people, says Paramount chief Chitimukulu.
The Chitimukulu also expressed happiness that Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni had accepted his invitation to officiate at the ceremony.
In a speech read for him by Mr Pius Kasonde, the Mwine Lubemba also appreciated development projects that were being carried out in his chiefdom by the government.
He however said that some of the projects such as the Kasama bus station, Kasama-Mpika Road and the rehabilitation of roads to tourist attraction centres had stalled.
The chief said his chiefdom had ample land for investment and strongly believed that once opportunities came through, the quality of life for the people would greatly improve.
“This traditional ceremony helps the people to stay together and keeps the tradition alive,” said the Mwine Lubemba.
Meanwhile, Minister in charge of State House Freedom Sikazwe led a delegation of other ministers and senior Patriotic Front and government officials to the traditional ceremony.
Ukusefya pa Ng’wena is a traditional ceremony held every year to celebrate the founding of present day Bemba kingdom after migrating from Kola in Congo DR.
