Tunisia: 164 Guineans repatriated voluntarily after their migratory stay
This Thursday, April 17, 2025, a total of 164 Guinean nationals were repatriated from Tunisia as part of a voluntary return program, coordinated with the International Migration Organization (OIM), reports the Tunis Africa Press (TAP) agency.
This repatriation is part of a global strategy implemented by Tunisia to manage migratory flows. A special flight was chartered for these migrants, who had initially arrived in Tunisia with the intention of continuing their migration to Europe, according to an anonymous source of the IOM.
Since the start of the year, 1,544 migrants have been repatriated as part of voluntary return programs, according to a statement published by the Tunisian presidency at the end of March.
In January, Mohamed Ben Ayed, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, had indicated that Tunisia had facilitated the voluntary return of 7,250 illegal migrants from sub -Saharan Africa during the year 2024.
