STOPPILA SUNZU CELEBRATED
ZAMBIA’s Ambassador to France Dr. Christine Kaseba-Sata has urged talented Youths in the Country to develop creatively and not tumble through the cracks.
Ambassador Dr. Kaseba-Sata said this in the wake of Mr. Stoppila Sunzu’s recognition award at the L’Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels (UNFP) in the 2019 best performing defenders category in ligue (2) two.
And Ambassador Kaseba-Sata stressed the need for Zambian Professional Footballers and the Citizenry living in the diaspora to invest their money wisely back home, and contribute to boosting the Country’s economy.
The Ambassador added that it would be prudent for Zambians in the diaspora to plan for their Future in Zambia for time will come when they’ll need to go back.
The Zambian Envoy also called on Professional Footballers to be vigilant and set themselves up for the future by investing in something tangible they could focus on after they hung up their boots.
The Ambassador has since congratulated the Zambian Professional Footballer Mr. Stoppila Sunzu for being awarded Trophée L’Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels (UNFP) in the 2019 best performing defenders category in ligue (2) two.
The award ceremony which was held at the Pavillon ďarmenonville in Paris, saw the Zambian Defender who plays for Metz Football Club in France, earn a place in the French Ligue (2) two Team of the Season. Mr. Sunzu played a significant role as his club secured promotion to the French Ligue (1) one.
Mr. Sunzu and the Ghanaian National Football Team center back Mr. John Boye were both named in the French Ligue (2) two Team of the Season Campaign for their remarkable defencive contributions which went unnoticed.
The Trophees UNFP du football are a number of awards given annually by the National Union of Professional Footballer Players to players playing in France’s Ligue (1) one and Ligue (2) two, as well as to Managers and Referees, the most prestigious one being the Player of the Year.
Ambassador Dr. Kaseba-Sata commended Mr. Sunzu for making the Country proud and encouraged other Zambian talented Youths to value the purpose of sport and importance in teaching necessary life skills.
“Sports are seen as a significant part of the educational curriculum, both formal and informal and hence we need to be proud as Zambians when our own does something remarkable in a foreign Country.” Ambassador Dr. Kaseba-Sata said.
Ambassador Dr. Kaseba-Sata further sent a message of well wishes for quick recovery and good health to Mr. Sunzu who sustained minor injuries in the last match of the 2018/2019 session against l’AS Nancy-Lorraine.
