REPUBLICAN President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has reaffirmed his resolve and commitment to work with the Barotse Royal Establishment and the Litunga in fostering development in the region.

In his address to Mongu residents and government officials who gathered at the Mongu Airstrip to see him off yesterday, the Head of State said he had put to shame all those that worked against the success of the 2017 Kuomboka ceremony.

He said Zambia was a united peace loving nation and he would work towards ensuring it remained a land of joy and unity.

“We have put to shame all those who had selfish intentions and fought hard to disturb the 2017 Kuomboka ceremony. I reaffirm my commitment to work closely with the Barotse Royal Establishment. We will dialogue over issues that need our attention. And let me assure you that come May or June, I will be back here in Mongu and Western province to strengthen the party and to do some politics,” said the President.

The Head of State went on to issue a warning to Ministers, District Commissioners and other government officials on the need to imitate him and be servants of the people.

He said in the same way that he has committed himself to always listen and attend to their needs, the same was expected of government officials towards the people.

President Lungu said he would not allow himself to be distracted on his path to deliver development to the entire region as per his campaign promise during the August, 2016 general elections. He said the Patriotic Front (PF) will rule beyond 2021.

“Here is your example. Imitate me. Be servants of the people and they will love you. I will listen and attend to your needs but you listen and attends to theirs. They (people) gave us this mandate to serve and we must deliver for PF to rule beyond 2021 and I will not be distracted,” stated President Lungu.
