POLICE in Lusaka have arrested a journalist for stealing a phone during a press briefing at the Ministry of Energy.

Zambia Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo confirmed that City Television reporter Hills Muntanga stole a Huawei phone valued at K9,000.

She said the phone was stolen at Government Complex in Lusaka at a press briefing.

“Reported to have been stolen is a Huawei phone valued at K9,000. Formal report was received by Woodlands Police from Mr Mwape Chipala of Makeni Bonaventure on behalf of the director, Ministry of Energy , Mr Lloyd Chinjenge, who happens to be the owner of the phone, ” Katongo said.

She said Muntanga is currently detained at Woodlands Police Station.

“This happened today at a press briefing at Government Complex. The suspect, identified as Hills Muntanga, aged 27 of Misisi compound, who was handed to police by Mr Chipala, is currently detained in police custody at Woodlands Police station. Docket of theft has been opened,” said Katongo.
