A Senegalese delegation was on Monday in Cairo, at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football, to submit the candidacy files for the organization of CAN 2027, announced the vice-president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Abdoulaye Saydou Sow on Future Media Radio.

The Senegalese delegation is led by Léopard Germain Senghor, director of high competition. Last December, Senegal expressed its intention to organize CAN 2027, but without taking any official initiative in this direction.

On April 27, CAF announced that it had received four declarations of candidacy for the organization of CAN 2027. The candidacies of Algeria, Botswana and Egypt are added to the joint one of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

On May 4, during the handover ceremony with his predecessor, Prime Minister Amadou Ba, Minister of Sports, said that Senegal would use diplomatic means to apply to host CAN 2027.

Candidate associations have until May 23 to submit their final file, as well as all relevant documents. CAF will carry out inspection visits to the candidate countries from June 1 to July 15, 2023. Senegal already organized the AFCON in 1992.
