National team: Kader Mangane announced as Lions manager

Former Senegalese international Kader Mangane is expected to leave Racing Club de Strasbourg to join Patrick Vieira’s staff at the head of the Senegal national team. He is announced for the position of Team Manager or general manager of the Lions.

The new organizational chart of the Senegal national team is starting to take shape. After the arrival of Patrick Vieira as coach, Kader Mangane was announced to occupy the position of Team Manager of the Lions.

The information was reported on Monday by several media, including L’Équipe and Latest News from Alsace. The French sports daily indicates that the Strasbourg sports coordinator should soon leave the club to join the Senegalese selection.

Aged 43, Kader Mangane knows Patrick Vieira well. The two men notably worked together at Racing Club de Strasbourg during the 2023-2024 season, when Vieira managed the Alsatian team. Mangane was then already involved in the club’s sports coordination.

Former international defender, Kader Mangane wore the Senegal jersey 43 times. Trained at US Rail, he notably played at RC Lens, Sunderland, Stade Rennais and Racing Club de Strasbourg, where he ended his playing career in 2018.

After hanging up his crampons, he gradually converted to sports management. He joined the management of Racing and held the position of sports coordinator for eight years, acting as a link between the sports sector and club management.

In his new role with the Lions, Mangane should notably ensure coordination between the technical staff, the players and the various representatives of the selection. The position of Team Manager is primarily related to the organization and day-to-day running of the Lair, rather than the tactical preparation of the team.

His arrival would thus constitute a new bridge between Strasbourg and the Senegalese selection. Patrick Vieira, who led the Alsatian club in 2023-2024, would find a former collaborator within his new project with the Lions.

The final composition of Patrick Vieira’s staff must, however, still be made official. Kader Mangane is currently announced as the future Team Manager, “unless there is a turnaround”, according to information reported by journalist Mansour Loum.
