Mbour: 160.75 kg of Indian hemp seized by the police
The Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS) of Thiès made a significant seizure in the Mbour area. Investigators got their hands on five packages of Indian hemp, for a total weight of 160.75 kg, the Senegal National Police announced in a press release.
The operation was carried out by elements of the Mbour combat unit. According to the Police, they acted “on the basis of precise operational information”. The interception took place between Mbaling and Sinthiou Mbadane, during an intervention targeting fleeing individuals.
The press release does not specify the exact date of the operation, nor the number of people involved, nor whether any arrests took place. It only indicates that investigators are seeking to “apprehend the fugitives”, which suggests that no suspect has been arrested at this stage.
Investigations continue
The Police present this seizure as “a hard blow to drug trafficking networks”. Investigations are continuing “actively” in order to “trace all the ramifications of this sector”, that is to say, to identify the sponsors, the supply circuits and possible complicity.
