Mawloud: Minister Alpha Thiam announces the asphalting of the Koussanar-Makacolibantang-Méréto-Koumpentoum axis
As part of the Mawloud celebrations, the Minister of Culture, Crafts and Tourism, Alpha Thiam, in the company of administrative, local authorities and heads of regional services from Tambacounda toured Makacolibantang, Koussanar and Tambacounda.
On this occasion, he announced good news eagerly awaited by the populations of the area: the upcoming asphalting of the Koussanar-Makacolibantang-Méréto-Koumpentoum section.
It was in the religious city of Makacolibantang that the minister made this announcement. According to him, all the necessary arrangements have been made for the realization of this road project.
“The government has taken all measures so that, in a short time, the road which leaves Koussanar passes through Makacolibantang and Méréto to go to Koumpentoum will be paved,” he declared.
32 kilometers long, the road linking Koussanar to Makacolibantang has long represented a major obstacle to the mobility of residents of the area. It sometimes took more than three hours to reach Maka, due to the poor condition of the track.
For Minister Thiam, this issue has always been among the major concerns of the Head of State and his government. He assures that, before long, these difficulties “will be nothing more than a bad memory”.
The minister wanted to emphasize that the prayers and numerous pleas of the local populations ended up finding a favorable response. He also thanked the administrative authorities for their involvement in making this project a reality.
The mayor of Makacolibantang commune, Bilaly Ba, welcomed this announcement and is now impatiently awaiting its implementation. He expressed his thanks to the government, while emphasizing the urgency of completing this section, which is particularly difficult for the populations during the rainy season.
