Chief government spokesperson and information minister Ms Dora Siliya has assured Zambian youths that President Edgar Lungu is very concerned about the welfare of the young people and has asked his ministers to engage them critically to address their grievances.
Ms Siliya said this at her office today when she met sports and youth minister Mr Emmanuel Mulenga, Community Development and Social Services Minister Kampamba Mulenga Chewe, Livestock and Fisheries Minister Professor Nkandu Luo, and Gender Minister Elizabeth Phiri.
She emphasized that the Head of State’s desire it to work with all the youths of Zambia while taking practical measures to have their desires met, considering the current economic challenges that the country is going through that has been aggravated by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Ms Siliya said the government is aware that the country’s youths want immediate solutions to their problems and assured that the PF government was working towards easing their challenges.
“Let me assure the youths that we as government are alive and sensitive to their needs and we are doing all we can to help them come out of their current situation,” Ms Siliya assured.
Ms Siliya’s assurances follows an online protest held by the youths yesterday while a few others met in the bush to air their grievances against the government.
