LFR: compromises, but disagreements on “important points”, work resumes Thursday October 21, 2026
Discussions on the amended finance bill (LFR) are continuing in the National Assembly. In a press release dated October 20, 2026, the PASTEF-Les Patriotes parliamentary group indicates that at the end of a long day of work in the finance committee, no “global and solid” consensus could be found with the government. The plenary session, initially scheduled for Friday October 23, has been postponed.
According to the group, certain compromises were noted during the discussions. However, they were not enough to reach an overall agreement with the executive. The press release specifies that the disagreements relate to important points, without listing them.
Resumption of work Thursday October 22
At the request of the government, the Finance Committee will meet on Thursday, October 22 to continue its work. Until then, the Ministry of the Economy and Finance must produce additional documents and supporting documents for the attention of the committee.
Plenary postponed until next week
The principle of postponing the plenary session to examine the draft LFR was also retained, again at the request of the government. It was initially scheduled for this Friday, October 23 and should be held next week, without a date specified in the press release.
The PASTEF-Les Patriotes group in the press release reiterates its readiness for constructive dialogue and the search for solutions “in the exclusive interest of the Senegalese people”.
