LFR 2026: Civil society calls for consultation
Around twenty Senegalese civil society organizations are calling for consultation to overcome their differences around finance laws.
In a press release, these organizations, including the Siggil Jigeen Network, Christian Presence and Afrikajom Center, invite the two institutions to promote “dialogue and consultation, in a spirit of responsibility and mutual respect, in the best interest of the nation”.
While recalling that divergences and power struggles are inherent to democracy, they insist on the need to resolve them while respecting the Constitution, institutional prerogatives and the general interest.
These organizations are particularly drawing attention to the consequences of a prolonged blockage, likely to affect the continuity of public services, the financing of social programs and economic recovery efforts.
The signatories finally say they are available to contribute to “any constructive initiative aimed at overcoming this situation, as part of their mission of citizen monitoring and democratic consolidation. »
