*HH’S REMARKS THAT THERE IS NO GOVERNMENT IS RECIPE FOR ANARCHY*
By Marvin Chanda Mberi
While Hakainde Hichilema is entitled to his opinion, he is not entitled to his own fats.
While it is right for him to express himself within the law, it is not right for him to carry on with alarmist statements which threaten the very peace Zambia is enjoying.
The assertion by UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema is not only careless remarks but recipe for anarchy as this is calculated to inculcate discontent against the legitimately elected Government.
As a leader of the longest opposition political party, Mr Hichilema should discern that statements of that nature have political repercussions even on Zambia’s international standpoints.
Not even countries like one country in East Africa (name withheld on public policy grounds) which has a dysfunctional Government from 1991 to 2016 had its citizens disrespected the Government brought into unnecessary disrepute.
Ever since he came on the political platform, Mr Hichilema has had no regard for the Government of the past but this unprecedented hatred against the Government of the day should not be the basis upon which he can undermine lawful authority.
It has also become fashionable that Mr Hichilema has launched plot to prepare his supporters rise against the will of the people.
It is also important that like any other citizen, interests of the nation must always prevail and above his narrow interests of becoming Republican President. We are made to speculate that the constant attacks on the Presidency as an institution and the persona of President Lungu is meant to solicit for the personal reaction from President Lungu.
However, President Lungu has always stood above board even in the midst of the provocation by the opposition leader. If truly there was no Government, his bloodshed prophesy would have come to pass. We take exception to such statements as they have a bearing on investor confidence.
While we are displeased with the malicious verbal harassment President Lungu may have constantly been subjected to, we remain committed to an issue based political campaign.
We also wish to reaffirm that there is no vacancy in the Presidency as this will manifest with the political will President Lungu has demonstrated to respond from the will of the citizens who are in dire need for answers to the ill Mr Hichilema allegedly committed during privatization.
The people of Zambia cannot be swayed by the unwarranted harassment as they know so well that there is a Government under President Lungu which has shown determination to deliver the social and economic programs to the Zambian people.
We urge Mr Hichilema to swallow his bitterness and come to term with reality that his archrival is the President.
We are further determined to undertake a rigmarole of activities to explain why there is no alternative and why State House does not need any tenant beside President Lungu.
