About 11 super league clubs have reportedly given their full backing to Gideon Mwenya to replace Andrew Kamanga as FAZ President in 2020.
The named top flight teams have meanwhile kept their stance embargoed for fear of being summoned by the FA to face ‘charges.’
The clubs who have confidentially passed a vote of confidence in the Konkola Mine Police chief have vowed to redeem Zambian football by giving a yes vote to Mwenya.
Everything is happening so fast as the giants of Zambian football inch closer to giving Zambian football a face-lift by moving a secret motion of replacing the Kamanga – led executive committee.
The Zambian football community is convinced Mwenya has a wealth of great ideas, capacity and drive that will lead Zambian football to new heights.
The motion to try Mwenya is being seconded and fully backed by lower division clubs.
Well known for being a talent builder, Mwenya is credited for tasting both lower league and top flight football.
Mwenya discovered late Nkana coach Masauso Mwale before handing him over to Nkana where he won the league until his untimely and unfortunate death.
His team has produced some of Zambia’s finest talents such as Stoppila Sunzu, Kabaso Chongo, Lazarous Kambole, Donashano Malama, Musonda Mwape and many others.
Councillors believe Mwenya’s passion for the game may just change Zambian football for ever.
Mwenya could be the one to answer the most frequently asked question of why Zambia has never been at the FIFA world cup and failing to make an appearance at both the 2017 and 2019 African Cup of Nations.
He is tasked to unite the Zambian football family which is deeply divided when elected.
Mwenya is also assigned to create a platform for Zambian football legends to continue helping the game even in their retirement.
