1)PRAYERS SAID FOR IMPRISONED UPND LEADER HAKAINDE HICHILEMA
HUNDREDS of Zambians from all walks of life yesterday attended a prayer service for jailed UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema. Some over 100 people attended the special prayer service at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka to pray for Hichilema, leader of the largest opposition party in Zambia, who had been held in prison for the past 35 days. The prayers were led by Bishop Chihana and were organised by the Church for peace and unity.
2) ZESCO TARIFF HIKE TAKES EFFECT
THE new electricity tariff hike approved by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) took effect yesterday. ERB approved ZESCO’s upward tariff adjustment by 75 percent effective 15th May,2017. The increment will be done in 2 phases, 50 percent from the 15th May, 2017 and 25 percent on 20th September 2017.
3) RTSA SYSTEM BACK ONLINE
THE Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has normalised its operations following a network failure due to a technical fault. Therefore, all RTSA offices will remain open after the normal working hours from 17:00 hours to 19:00 hours from Monday to Friday and also Saturdays up to 13:00 hours until further notice. Additionally, motor vehicle owners are reminded to produce original copies of the Registration Certificate (White Book) for all motor vehicle related transactions such as the payment for Road Tax, Inspection for Roadworthiness and Physical Examinations.
4) MISS ZAMBIA DETHRONED
LOUISA Chingangu, who was crowned Miss Zambia 2016 last December, has been suspended for what the franchise owners say is gross misconduct for seemingly supporting an online publication that alleged that the organisers have not given her all the prizes apart from the motor vehicle for winning the title reported the Zambia Daily Mail.
