Former Vice President in the Mwanawasa Regime, Mr Lupando Mwape says he is extremely impressed with the level of care at the University Teaching Hospital where he has been admitted for the past two days.
Mr Mwape who served as Veep from 2004 to 2006 under the MMD Government, says the staff at the University Teaching Hospital are serving with diligence, professionalism and passion befitting of a health sector and hence need to be commended.
He said since he fell ill and was rushed to the hospital day before yesterday, he has recieved nothing but the best care and service possible.
“We need this kind of response, we need to be inspired, we need to be encouraged, we need the motivation and confidence that even here in Zambia, we are able to handle our own situations. This is great. I wish to commend the President, His Excellency Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu and you his team, Health Minister, you are doing great work,” he said.
And the Minister of Health, Dr. Chilufya stated that the President was very concerned about the health of the former Vice President. He stated that both the President and the Acting President, Madam Inonge Wina, wished him the quickest recovery.
“We continue to regard you as a very senior statesman who was a very senior leader and who served the people of this country diligently, and government will do all it can to ensure you are back on your feet. And we are happy with the progress we are seeing so far,” Dr. Chilufya said.
Mr Lupando Mwape has been hospitalised at UTH for the past two days with an illness and is responding well to treatment.
