Fight against crime: gang leader arrested in Keur Massar
A gang leader was arrested in Keur Massar on August 25 by the local Research Brigade. According to a note made public Thursday by the national gendarmerie, he is being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, violence and assault, assault and battery, contempt of an agent responsible for public order, rebellion, possession of a bladed weapon and trafficking in Indian hemp.
In its anti-crime missions, the Keur Massar Research Brigade took an individual of Senegalese nationality into custody on August 25, 2026 at 12 p.m. The charges against him are: criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, violence and assault, willful assault and battery, contempt of an agent responsible for public order, rebellion, possession of a bladed weapon and trafficking in Indian hemp.
“Indeed, following the complaint of two citizens who were victims of attacks, elements of the Keur Massar Research Brigade carried out a security operation and succeeded in arresting the perpetrator. This is the leader of a gang who terrorized honest citizens at the end of the wrestling matches,” explains the gendarmerie.
Threats made via TikTok against security forces
According to the same source, the latter made threats, via TikTok, against the security forces who were looking for him. He took refuge in the Parcelles Assainies of Keur Massar and took refuge with his acolytes in the Mbao forest after his attacks.
“On the night of August 24 to 25, 2026, a man came across a scene of assault at the Shell station in Keur Massar and wanted to help the victim. He came up against determined people who stabbed him in the forearm, while the attacked person escaped with injuries and his motorcycle stoned,” report elements of the Keur Massar Research Brigade.

In reality, the attackers had disappeared after their crime. The two victims formally identified the offender arrested by the police. The search carried out by the gendarmerie at his home revealed: two machetes, empty cans of diluent and Indian hemp residue.
