FIFA: a Kenyan club relegated for rigged match

The Kenyan Football Federation, FKF, confirmed the relegation of the local club, Muhoroni Youth.

This decision comes after FIFA recognized the second division team guilty of match manipulation. This is the latest scandal to strike football in this Eastern African country, long in the grip of rigged matches.

Friday, FIFA announced that it has recognized Muhoroni Youth ” guilty of activities related to the manipulation of football matches and competitions ”. The leading world football body has now expelled the senior team of the National Division National Division of the FKF Super League club.

They were ordered to play in the One League division, third division, next season. The FKF replied that it “Fully supports FIFA’s decision”.

The FKF also reiterated “His zero tolerance position with regard to rigged matches and all forms of manipulation that threaten the integrity of the game.”
