EU delegation to Senegal: Aude Maio-Coliche, new ambassador
By presenting her credentials to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Aude Maio-Coliche opens a new chapter in the strategic partnership between the European Union and Senegal.
The new ambassador, head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Senegal, Aude Maio-Coliche, presented her credentials to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Tuesday October 27, 2026. She succeeds Jean-Marc Pisani.
“I am happy to open this new chapter in Senegal, serving a strong, ambitious and forward-looking partnership. I salute the solidity and quality of the partnership between the European Union and Senegal, based on long-standing relations and a solid partnership,” she said on the occasion of her appointment.
Over the past five years, recalls a press release from the EU Delegation in Dakar, Ms. Maio-Coliche has served as director of strategic communication and foresight. She also served as Acting Deputy Director-General for Africa and EU Ambassador for Equality in the European External Action Service.
Previously, she served as EU Ambassador to Argentina and Venezuela. Throughout her career, she has held various positions within the European Commission and the European External Action Service, notably in the area of relations between the EU and Latin America, as well as relations between the EU and Central Africa.
In 2011, she also contributed to the development of human resources policies for the then newly created European External Action Service. Alongside her diplomatic and institutional experience, Ms. Maio-Coliche worked in the private sector, where she provided European affairs consulting services to international companies.
The EU and Senegal share the desire to promote effective multilateralism and an international order based on law and justice. Aude Maio-Coliche takes office at a key moment in the historic and close relationship between the EU and Senegal, two entities motivated to consolidate this strategic partnership.
This translates into regular dialogue and strengthened cooperation in key areas such as investment and economic development, peace and security, migration and governance. His taking office also comes in a new dynamic for the EU’s presence in the region, with the launch of the new hub for international partnerships, based in Dakar, which will cover six countries in the region.
The EU Delegation to Senegal also hosts several key regional representations, including those of the Foreign Policy Instrument (FPI), the Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) and the European Investment Bank (EIB). Furthermore, 17 EU member states (Team Europe) are engaged with Senegal alongside the ambassador.
