Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Emmanuel Mwamba and Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane have met after protests were held outside the embassy in Pretoria.

Protesters converged after Maimane was deported for attempting to visit jailed Hakainde Hichilema.

BELOW IS MWAMBA’S STATEMENT

Leader of the Opposition, the Democratic Alliance, Hon. Mmusi Maimane took time to visit us at the Zambian High Commission in Pretoria.

Mr. Maimane was accompanied by his officials and a member of Parliament and sought audience of yesterday’s incidence in Lusaka.

He expressed concern about the manner he was treated when his was denied entry into the country.

We also took time to alert him to our concerns regarding his media statement that stated that he was going to pressure our Courts of law to release Mr. Hichilema.

We informed him that in our system no person is allowed to bring pressure on the Courts of Law and any comments about the process is deemed prejudicial, subjudice and might be contemptuous.

We took time to discuss all matters and our entire meeting was fruitful.
