Diplomacy: Bassirou Diomaye Faye in New York for the UN General Assembly

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye left Dakar this Monday, September 21, 2026 for New York, where he is participating in the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, indicates the Presidency.

This trip is part of a dense diplomatic sequence. Last week, the Head of State went to Washington then to Abu Dhabi, two stops that the Presidency presents as a continuation of its “commitment to Senegal’s partners”.

In New York, Bassirou Diomaye Faye intends to “bring the voice of Senegal to the international community”, according to the press release, which however does not specify the content of his intervention at the UN platform, nor the date of it, nor his schedule of meetings on the sidelines of the Assembly.

An annual meeting of world diplomacy, the high-level week brings together heads of state and government every September, who present their priorities and increase the number of bilateral talks.
