Diocese of Kolda: Mgr Joseph Francis Janvier BADJI confirmed by the Pope

Thus, on this same occasion, the document continues, the Holy Father confirmed Monsignor Joseph Francis Janvier BADJI, until then Coadjutor Bishop of Kolda, in his mission at the head of this same diocese, as diocesan Bishop.

“Consequently, Monsignor Badji immediately succeeds Monsignor Bassène in the pastoral government of the diocese of Kolda, with the rights and obligations attached to the office of diocesan bishop. A solemn celebration marking the beginning of his pastoral ministry will take place on December 12, 2026, at the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Cathedral in Kolda,” the document continues.

On this, the Apostolic Nunciature invites the clergy, men and women religious, consecrated women and all the faithful of the Diocese of Kolda to give thanks to the Lord for the ministry accomplished by Monsignor Jean-Pierre Bassène and to welcome their new pastor in prayer.

She urges them to accompany Monsignor Joseph Francis Janvier Badji with their prayers, so that, docile to the action of the Holy Spirit, he can accomplish with fidelity and fruitfulness the mission entrusted to him.
