Workers at the two public institutions of higher learning, the University of Zambia and the Copperbelt University have threatened to down tools if they will not get their May salaries this week.

According to management memos, the workers have been delayed due to circumstance beyond the institutions control.

But University of Zambia Lecturers and Researchers Union General Secretary Kelvin Mambwe says the continuous salary delays is testimony that government has failed to run universities.

Mr. Mambwe says government should attach more importance to the education.
