CAN 2023 (Q): the list of Guinea against Malawi, without Naby Keita

The coach of Guinea, Kaba Diawara, communicated this Monday his list of players selected for the match against Malawi, counting for the 6th day of the CAN 2023 qualifiers. A group of 23 players from the national Syli was selected, without include captain Naby Keita.

Last chance for teams looking for the qualifying ticket for CAN 2023, which will take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Ivory Coast, the sixth day of the qualifiers will open next September. Several matches will be played across the continent during this final round.

Already qualified, Guinea will face Malawi on September 9 in Lilongwe. This match will primarily serve as preparation for the national Syli who will challenge Canada and Iran next October, during friendly matches. However, the stakes are high for the Flames who must take the three points from victory against the Guineans to hope to finish among the best 3rd, synonymous with qualification for the African Cup.

For this match, the national coach of Guinea, Kaba Diawara, revealed his list of players called up. The tactician called up 23 of his best players, without Naby Keita. The Syli national team captain, who suffered a groin injury during the pre-season with Werder Bremen, is not fully recovered and has been left out of the squad.

On the other hand, two players are returning to the national team. These are Mohamed Bayo (Lille) and Ibrahima Cissé (Schalke 04). There are also new faces joining Kaba Diawara’s team: Madiou Keïta (Auxerre B/France) and Mohamed Chérif Camara (Hafia FC/Guinea).
