CAN 2023 (Q): Burundi's pre-list against Cameroon

CAN 2023 (Q): the list of Burundi against Cameroon

Burundian coach Étienne Ndayiragije has lifted the veil on the final composition of his national team which will face Cameroon in a crucial match. After an intense period of preparation, the initial list of 37 players has been whittled down to a tight group of 24 valiant footballers who are heading to Indomitable Lions territory.

Burundi approaches this challenge with unfailing determination, hoping to create a surprise for the Cameroonian opponent on its own ground. Having suffered a 0-1 home defeat in the last confrontation, the Braves Warriors are driven by the desire to rectify the situation.

To do this, Étienne Ndayiragije carefully selected a pre-list of 37 players in order to prepare for the confrontation against Cameroon. After three weeks of intense training, the Burundian coach made the decision to reduce the squad.

The team which will head to Garoua is now made up of 24 players, accompanied by the technical staff. It was obvious that not all of those pre-selected could make the trip to face Cameroon in the match scheduled for Tuesday, September 12.

Thus, among the defenders initially summoned, Étienne Ndayiragije made the decision to exclude Nshimirimana David, Ndizeye Samuel, Weymans Marco, Muhindo Collin and Nshimirimana Jospin.

In midfield, the coach kept eleven players from the pre-list, excluding Girumugisha Jean Claude and Kamsoba Elvis. In attack, the final group includes Bimenyimana Bon Fils Caleb, Hussein Shaban, Niyongabire Pacifique and Berahino Saido.

The Burundian team is therefore counting on these 24 hand-picked players to take up the challenge against the Cameroonian Lions, in what promises to be an exciting and decisive confrontation for both teams.
