CAN 2023 (Q): Cameroon, last qualified for the final phase

Cameroon validated its ticket for the final phase of CAN 2023 after its victory this Tuesday against Burundi (3-0), in Garoua.

We now know the 24 countries qualified for the final phase of CAN 2023. The last place was acquired this Tuesday evening by Cameroon in Garoua. The Indomitable Lions snatched their qualification after their victory this evening against Burundi. Opposed to the Hirondelles, although dangerous especially in the first half, the men of coach Rigobert Song won with a score of 3-0.

Jostled during the first 45 minutes, enough to allow André Onana to shine for his big return to the Cameroonian cages, the Lions started the goal machine after returning from the locker room. Launched by Bryan Mbeumo (1-0, 46th), Samuel Eto’o’s protégés will unfold through Wooh (2-0, 59th) and captain Vincent Aboubakar, who took advantage of a high recovery from Ngamaleu to seal the match (3-0, 90th+3).

With 7 points now, Cameroon takes first place in group C and therefore qualifies for the final phase of the African Cup. Note that the continental tournament will be held from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Ivory Coast.
