Benin: Tosin Aiyegun reacts to his package against Mozambique

Forfeited for the match against Mozambique on September 9 in Maputo, counting for the sixth day of the CAN 2023 qualifiers, Tosin Aiyegun gave his support to the Cheetahs, whom he considers capable of bringing back qualification.

Tosin Aiyegun will not play the sixth round of the qualifying phases of CAN 2023. Called up with 24 others for the clash against Mozambique on September 9 in Maputo, the striker is withdrawn from this decisive meeting due to an injury sustained during a match with his club Lorient FC in the French Ligue 1. According to information reaching Benin Web TV, the player is injured in the thigh and his club has decided to protect him from this trip which could worsen his situation.

A nasty injury which thwarts the plans of the Guépards center forward who hopes to take revenge on the Mozambican team, who fell to the Beninese in Cotonou (1-0) during the second day. Enough to disappoint the 25-year-old player who made it known in a recent post on social networks, while reiterating his support for his teammates.

Tosin Aiyegun’s message:

For his replacement, the national coach, Gernot Rorh, chose the Dadjè FC player, Ghislain Ahoudo. Called in the meantime to help the group, the midfielder is now an integral part of Rohr’s squad for the trip to Mozambique.

Victory to qualify

Held in check by Senegal (1-1) during the previous day, the Cheetahs must snatch victory against the Mambas to validate their passport for the trip to Ivorian soil.

Second in the standings after its logical victory against Rwanda (2-0) last June, the Mozambican selection only needs a draw to be one of those called to this African mass. As a reminder, the match is scheduled for September 9, 2023 at the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto in Maputo at 3 p.m. GMT.
