Bambey: 650 women armed for financial autonomy

The Social and Solidarity Economy Support Fund (Faess) awarded diplomas to 650 women this Thursday, September 17, in Bambey. This graduation follows their capacity building.

Bambey- A new step has just been taken in the promotion of the social and solidarity economy in the department of Bambey. In total, 650 women from six communes of Bambey were trained in different production techniques. This strengthening is part of an initiative supported by the Support Fund for the Social and Solidarity Economy (Faess). The ceremony was held in Keur-Seck, in the commune of Thiakhar.

According to Alioune Badara Dione, Minister of Social and Solidarity Economy, through this initiative, Faess intends to strengthen the entrepreneurial techniques and skills of beneficiaries, while promoting their professional integration and financial empowerment. In her opinion, the training provided should notably enable participants to develop income-generating activities and better structure their economic initiatives.

“We have implemented a development approach inspired by Muhammad Yunus on innovative financing strategies for small economic activities,” explained the minister.

He also urged Faess to continue supporting trained women, particularly through the identification of their equipment and financing needs.

“The structuring of Productive Solidarity Cooperatives (CPS) and access to economic opportunities and markets are also among the next steps,” said Dr. Dione.

He also expressed the hope that this strategy would allow beneficiaries to consolidate their activities, improve their income and contribute more to the local economic development of the Bambey department.
