A first convoy of Senegalese migrants repatriated from Morocco this Friday

A first group of 120 Senegalese is preparing to leave Morocco to return to the country, indicated the Senegalese Press Agency (APS), citing a diplomatic source. The convoy is due to hit the road on Friday September 4, 2026, taking the land route through Mauritania before reaching the border town of Rosso, Senegal, on Saturday.

According to the APS, this operation is part of the voluntary repatriations of migrants rescued or intercepted at sea by the Royal Moroccan Navy. The Consul General of Senegal in Dakhla, Babou Sène, confirmed the information, specifying that the convoy will reach Senegal by land after leaving southern Morocco.

Still according to the APS, the consular representative also indicated that his service is continuing its coordination with the Senegalese and Moroccan diplomatic authorities in order to facilitate the continuation of voluntary repatriations.
The agency also reports that 251 other Senegalese, currently housed in the migrant reception centers of Bir-Guindouz and Argoub, are still awaiting their return to the country.
