YOG Dakar 2026: The ARTP mobilized to guarantee optimal connectivity
With the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Dakar 2026 (October 31 – November 13, 2026), the Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority (ARTP) is strengthening its technical system to guarantee reliable connectivity and quality communications during this historic event, a first on the African continent.
For Artp, this involves ensuring the proper functioning of telecommunications networks, the security of communications and the quality of audiovisual broadcasting throughout the competition. In this perspective, the Regulatory Authority indicates that it is working “in close collaboration with players in the sector to anticipate and meet the technological challenges linked to this global event”.
The system put in place is based in particular on “real-time supervision of the radio spectrum and monitoring of equipment conformity”. These operations aim to prevent possible disruptions and guarantee optimal use of frequency resources.
Through this mobilization, the regulator wants to make connectivity an essential link in the success of the YOG Dakar 2026. The stated ambition is to ensure “reliable, accessible and quality electronic communications” for the benefit of athletes, supporters, visitors, organizers and all stakeholders involved in this event.
Beyond the sporting dimension, this deadline also constitutes a life-size test for Senegal’s digital infrastructure and technological capabilities to host large-scale international events.
