YOG Dakar 2026: Alexandra de Navacelle de Coubertin visits the “Empreinte 100 Ans” exhibition
As the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) approach, Alexandra de Navacelle de Coubertin, fourth generation descendant of Pierre de Coubertin, visited, on Wednesday October 28, the international exhibition “Empreinte 100 Ans – Peace through Sport, Art and Culture”, at the Museum of Black Civilizations.
She praised an initiative which combines artistic creation, environment and youth engagement. “It’s a very beautiful exhibition that really reflects the energy of Senegal,” she said, emphasizing the role of sport and art in bringing people together. “Sport is a way of bringing people together. Art and expression are a way of communicating,” she added, inviting young Senegalese and Africans to become actors in their future.
Founded and chaired by Jingshi Feng in the wake of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the “Empreinte 100 Ans” project makes a stopover in Dakar after Paris, before Los Angeles in 2028. The exhibition highlights the works of fourteen artists symbolically representing the fourteen regions of Senegal.
Representing the Minister responsible for Communication and Relations with institutions, the Director of Communication, Habibou Dia, underlined the role of sport and culture in the international influence of Senegal and the promotion of peace, in the spirit of the Olympic truce.
