BAMBEY – It’s now official. Payment of family security grants resumed on Friday October 16, 2026. The official monetary transfer ceremony took place at the Bambey sports stadium. According to the Minister of Family, Social Action and Solidarity, Marie Angélique Mame Selbé Diouf, financial aid of 135,000 FCfa is granted to each family out of 9,218 vulnerable households in the Bambey department. According to her, the overall amount intended for the locality amounts to 1,244,330,000 FCfa. It aims to strengthen assistance to vulnerable populations with a view to improving their resilience to the food crisis. “We are planning financial assistance of 135,000 FCfa per household for the benefit of 17,200 vulnerable households registered in the single national register representing approximately 154,800 people. The overall envelope mobilized amounts to 2 billion 322 million FCFA for the priority departments: Bambey, Matam, Goudiry, Salémata and Saréya,” said Marie Angélique Mame Selbé Diouf. She insisted on the transparency and objectivity of the beneficiaries’ choices. She recalled that the selection was made on the basis of the Single National Register (Rnu) and on the socio-economic classification method which allowed them to prioritize the most deprived households according to their living conditions. “Field verifications were carried out in order to make the data reliable and secure payments. This approach aims to ensure that public assistance reaches the households that need it most while respecting social justice, equity and transparency,” she added.
The vice-president of the Bambey Departmental Council, Mamadou Ndiaye invited beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly to respond as a priority to the essential needs of their families. He asked the government to prioritize vocational training and the fight against unemployment among young people and women to make them autonomous.
