Floods in Yoff: Mayor Seydina Issa Laye Sambe at the bedside of the impacted populations

The mayor of Yoff, Seydina Issa Laye Sambe, visited this Monday the different localities of the commune affected by the heavy rains the day before.

According to the town hall’s communications department, the town councilor successively went to Ouest-Foire, Yoff Mbenguéne, Yoff Ndeugagne, Tonghor, to the Apecsy and Dakar-Marine cities, to Frigo, Khour Wi, Nord-Foire and to Cité Diamalaye, in order to see the extent of the damage.

Following these findings, the Town Hall’s technical teams were deployed and are fully mobilized to deal with the situation.

In the Frigo sector, a mechanical excavator and a backfill truck were mobilized.
In other sectors affected by flooding, the Mayor also mobilized motor pumps with a capacity of 150 m³, as well as a mechanical excavator and backfill trucks, in order to facilitate pumping operations, water evacuation and restoration of affected areas.

It should be remembered that Yoff is one of the municipalities in Dakar most affected by the storms of October 4. Moreover, the Philippe Maguilene Senghor health center was completely invaded by water requiring the rapid intervention of the National Group of Firefighters.
