Sonatel partners with Saly Sarr to support his sporting rise
Sonatel formalized, Monday in Dakar, a partnership with the Senegalese triple jumper Saly Sarr. This agreement aims to support the champion in the pursuit of her career and to contribute to the emergence of new sporting talents. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports.
For Saly Sarr, this agreement comes at the end of an exceptional season, marked by several leading performances on the international scene. On August 23, she won the Diamond League meeting in Silesia, Poland, with a leap of 15.08 m, setting a new national record. On September 4, she then won the final of the Diamond League in Brussels, with 14.96 m, becoming the first Senegalese athlete to win this circuit. She continued this dynamic by winning at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, in Budapest, on September 13, with a jump of 15.06 m.
The champion expressed her gratitude to Sonatel, believing that this support constitutes both a mark of trust and an additional responsibility. She intends to continue her progress, take on new challenges and continue to wear the colors of Senegal. According to her, her journey must also encourage young people, especially girls, to believe in their abilities and to get involved in sport.
The general director of Sonatel Brelotte Bâ praised the athlete’s performances, highlighting his discipline, his work and his perseverance. He recalled that the company has been supporting Senegalese sport for more than 25 years, through partnerships with federations and athletes. The group also wishes to make this convention a lever for detecting and supporting young talents.
Present at the ceremony, the Minister of Youth and Sports welcomed an initiative which illustrates, according to her, the need to strengthen links between champions and the private sector. She recalled that the ministry intends to facilitate these bridges in order to offer athletes better conditions for development. She also called on other companies to commit to youth and sport.
Through this agreement, Sonatel intends to extend its support for national sport, while Saly Sarr benefits from new support to continue his career at the highest level.
