Preparations for the start of the school year: Mbacké faces a shortage of teachers and furniture
A few days before the start of the school year, the Mbacké department faces significant needs for teaching staff and school furniture. The Education and Training Inspectorate (IEF) reports a deficit of 53 teachers for elementary and 23 teachers for middle secondary, for a total need of 76 agents. Added to this is a shortage of 12,000 table-benches, of which 5,000 could however be repaired.
These figures were communicated by the Ief of Mbacké, Abdoulaye Oumar Kane, during the meeting of the Departmental Development Committee on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 (CDD) devoted to preparations for the start of the school year. The meeting, chaired by the sub-prefect of Ndame, Djidiack Kital, was held in the absence of the prefect of Mbacké and his deputy, both of whom were unable to attend.
According to the Ief, the staff deficit is mainly explained by retirements and the national movement of teachers. However, he remains optimistic about the closing of this gap. Special recruitment and the arrival of graduates from the Regional Training Centers for Education Personnel (CRFPE) should, according to him, contribute to strengthening the workforce.

Administratively, preparations for the start of the school year are continuing normally. The preparation of timetables, the preparation of establishments and coordination meetings are underway. The start of the school year is scheduled for October 5 for staff and October 7 for students.
Given the strong demographic growth of Touba, a second IEF was also created in the city. Its manager, Omar Thiam, intends in particular to work to support private establishments, particularly numerous in the religious city, in order to help them obtain their authorization and recognition. He recalls that Touba presented nearly 6,000 candidates for the last CFEE exam, illustrating the considerable weight of the city in the departmental education system.
