JICA FemPOWER Africa: a Japanese experience serving female entrepreneurship

Better supporting the development of female entrepreneurship is the objective of JICA FemPOWER Africa which was held in Japan and in which the Agency for the Development and Supervision of Small and Medium Enterprises (Adepme) took part. A meeting which brought together female entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of public and private structures.

Adepme, in a press release made public this Friday 25, drew the conclusions of the JICA FemPOWER Africa which was held in Japan. The challenge of this meeting was to “better support the development of female entrepreneurship”.

This initiative brought together “representatives of public and private structures as well as women entrepreneurs” from several African countries. This JICA FemPOWER Africa was punctuated, reports Adepme, by “training sessions, exchanges between countries, meetings and visits allowing the discovery of other practices and approaches in terms of business support”.

Thus, Senegalese SMEs have benefited from training workshops, a team trained alongside a team trained by the agency. For Adepme, “these different times made it possible to compare experiences, to share the realities encountered by African SMEs and to discover solutions developed in the Japanese context”.

She considers the achievements as “concrete material to nourish reflection on the support of SMEs and women entrepreneurs in Senegal”.
